Getting Started
Here you will find all you need in order to be successful with the discussion board. We will go over how to search for specific answers and how to ask questions, tag other people, direct message and navigate through the discussion board.
The first thing you want to do is make sure you’re in the Discord. You may join the P2P discord with this link.
If you were to be apart of the Legions and Realms which involves the games and units join the L&R server.
Discord Rules
Be sure to follow the rules of the discord.
- Be respectful, this is a learning environment. Majority of the users are also students from different courses or from past semesters.
- No spamming.
- No swearing.
- Treat the discussion board as if you were in class, if you wouldn’t do it in class don’t do it here.
Channels
On the left you will see Channels labeled with the “#” sign. Here you can find your class and ask for help accordingly. Whenever you decide to make an announcement (such as reopening and assignment), you would do so in your course channel.
Search Feature
If you wish to ask a question, it’s important to use the search feature first, 9/10 times your question has been asked before. The search future is located on the top right of the discussion board. Instead of typing out your full question be sure to use key words, for example “earn units” or “File not found” things that may relate to your question.
Question Format
Let’s say you were not able to find your question in the search feature.
- The first thing you do is go to your course which is located on the left, for example “# cit-110” Then follow this format when asking question.
- Post the assignment link, this ensures the person who’s helping knows which assignment you’re talking about and what the requirements entails.
- Explain what your question or issues are.
Majority of the issues can be resolved by going back to the video and making sure your project is exactly as shown in the video. If your question is about clarity then it would depend on the requirements.
If the requirements does not specify a certain aspect, it is on the student to be creative and use their critical thinking skills in order to fulfill the requirements.
Replying to a Message
The next thing is replying to a message, you can hover your mouse over the message and click the arrow pointing left as shown above. If you which to tag a specific person, use the @ symbol and then their name (@Gatekeeper) This will ensure the one you’re tagging will be notified about your message. Do you see the emoji in the above image? It’s the “100” in red.
If you wish to add the same emoji, all is needed is to click the “100” but if you wish to add a different emoji, you can click the emoji icon shown on the left image.

The last thing you will probably need is how to upload a file or an image. Just click the “+” on the left where would insert your text.
